Contextualized in the most cultural and linguistically diverse state in Mexico, the purpose of this presentation is threefold: (1) to provide a historical overview of multilingualism in Mexico; (2) to discuss current “issues” regarding Indigenous linguistic diversity; and (3) to present two Indigenous speakers’ portraits and their (dis)connection to assessment.
